FEATHERS was commissioned in 2020 by the Evreux Conservatory of Music. The piece is written as an hommage to the folk music of Northern Croatia. It is composed as a set of variations in different characters and styles. Some of the instruments used in the piece bare a distant resemblance to particular folk instruments for ex. harp which paraphrases the cimbalom in the lyrical part. The initial bar, with its use of contemporary sounds serves as a moment of sound chaos and a small test of creativity for the players. Occasionally, improvisation and ornamentation can be added.
