Language is sometimes insufficient to round out and describe a nuance in one word.
Be that as it may - scarlet, with its associative power, connects the notions of woman, "easy woman", whatever that means; the church, the cardinal authority, the Last Judgment, religion and sacrifice; strength, passion and joy; sunsets and fiery twilights.
The title outlines a personal fascination with expressionist paintings.
Through the exchange of perceptions, freedom of association, thought and question, the composition does not pretend, but aims to bring the composer and the performer closer together."
